Today all those that you hold dear<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Join with you to celebrate<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A wedding day of yesteryear<\/p>\n\n\n\n
May the 6th<\/sup>, 1948.<\/p>\n\n\n\n With few possessions in your hand <\/p>\n\n\n\n And loved ones left behind<\/p>\n\n\n\n You journeyed to another land<\/p>\n\n\n\n A new home for to find.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Passage was sought across the sea<\/p>\n\n\n\n On a ship not all that sound<\/p>\n\n\n\n And quite a bit of time it\u2019d be<\/p>\n\n\n\n E\u2019er your new home was found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Reminders of your home and past <\/p>\n\n\n\n Returned to you of sorts<\/p>\n\n\n\n For perched atop the lofty mast<\/p>\n\n\n\n Was that famous bird \u2013 the stork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And when you reached the eastern shore<\/p>\n\n\n\n He was never far behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Bringing almost yearly more<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wee blessings of his kind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n First Grace, then Anne, and after Bill<\/p>\n\n\n\n Came John and Bram and me,<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jenny, Pat, Hilda, Rita, and still<\/p>\n\n\n\n There came another three.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sylvia Harold and Connie were sent <\/p>\n\n\n\n But tireless that stork wasn\u2019t<\/p>\n\n\n\n It seemed at last he was content<\/p>\n\n\n\n We were a baker\u2019s dozen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At times I know we\u2019ve caused you pain<\/p>\n\n\n\n At other times brought pleasure<\/p>\n\n\n\n The happy memories we retain<\/p>\n\n\n\n Are a very special treasure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Our family shares a special love<\/p>\n\n\n\n That only largeness bids<\/p>\n\n\n\n For we all know the closeness of<\/p>\n\n\n\n A dozen other kids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But to the stork we owe not thanks <\/p>\n\n\n\n For all our happiness<\/p>\n\n\n\n With health and love in all our ranks<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Lord has surely blessed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And thank you Mom and Dad for all <\/p>\n\n\n\n The love and care you\u2019ve shown<\/p>\n\n\n\n For teaching us that when we fall<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are not all alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s not material things that bring<\/p>\n\n\n\n us joy and happiness<\/p>\n\n\n\n But honest love and sharing <\/p>\n\n\n\n Our lives will truly bless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We thank the Lord that we could share<\/p>\n\n\n\n This wonderful event<\/p>\n\n\n\n And hope that in His tender care<\/p>\n\n\n\n Our lives will all be spent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n With love from your daughter,<\/p>\n\n\n\n on the occasion of your 35th<\/sup>Wedding Anniversary,<\/p>\n\n\n\n May 6th<\/sup>1983<\/p>\n\n\n\n Teresa E. de Jong<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Reflections Today all those that you hold dear Join with you to celebrate A wedding day of yesteryear May the 6th, 1948.
